New Solar and Battery Requirements for Commercial Buildings

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has adopted new building standards that will be implemented by 2023.  The biggest affect in terms of energy savings and management for UCR is the requirement of all commercial buildings to be constructed in anticipation of a Solar PV system and a battery storage unit.  This requirement will also be in place for buildings undergoing renovations.

With UCR continually growing as a campus and community, expect to see more buildings with Solar PV systems and battery storage units to help reduce energy usage and overall carbon emissions.
